This role is located at our Corona, California location.
As a key member of the small team embarking on the build out of this newly acquired site, this role will work alongside operational and functional leaders to play a critical role in the development and implementation
of the strategic vision for the factory. In the startup phase (next 6-12 months), this role will be broad and wear multi-hats including providing support in areas outside of this position once production starts up.
This role is a leadership role on our Quality Team to ensure the production of safe food by following Baldwin Richardson Foods’ Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures across the plant supply chain. The Supervisor executes the Food Safety Plan (FSP) and provides technical expertise to their cross-functional partners.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws for Quality Assurance team.
- Conducts root cause analysis and utilizes other quality /problem solving techniques to resolve quality issues including product holds, customer complaints, and GMP’s issues.
- Tracks and reports metrics used to define performance that are aligned with company objectives.
- Analyzes trends to understand performance opportunities and develops plan to close gaps
- Engages in non-conforming material process to ensure product is segregated and dispositioned
- Partners with Production, Sanitation, and Warehousing Departments to ensure GMP’s and preventive controls are followed.
- Creates and provides training to BRF team members on quality and food safety as needed.
- Supports plants’ readiness for governmental, 1st, 2nd and 3rd party audits (including SQF).
- Performs internal audits in production and storage areas and on procedures, policies and programs.
- Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and provides guidance on system improvements and staff training.
- Identifies areas to reduce waste, rework, and other inefficiencies with a focus on continuous process improvement.
- Uses statistical tools to create and assess processes and track progress of quality programs
- Reviews adherence to budget on a monthly basis.
- Acts as primary representative for all QA lab equipment and calibration of plant scales and balances.
- Acts as a backup for Compliance Analyst, Quality Analyst or Quality Technician as needed.
- Performance Management: Manages employee performance by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance; tracking progress against goals; providing clear, thorough,
timely feedback; and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or Chemical Engineering preferred. HS/GED is required plus industry specific training and certifications.
- A minimum of three (3) years of prior experience in food safety and quality required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of prior people supervisory experience required, including experience with hiring and performance management.
- PCQI, HACCP, and SPC trained preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
- Knowledge of quality systems, food safety, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to interpret data, understand process capability, and relate it to customer specifications.
- Well-developed leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with frequent changeovers, and quick commercialization process.
- Strong, effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to assemble resources needed to orchestrate multiple projects/activities and accomplish goals.
- Proficient in time management.
- Insightful and creative problem solving, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make discerning decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- Unquestionable integrity and dependability.
- Results-oriented with a focused sense of urgency.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of MS Office and a robust e-System, preferably SAP and Trace Gains.
- Due to SQF regulations, all employees must be able to fluently read, write, and converse in the English language.
