Requirements

Education: 

  •  Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s in Nursing.

Life Support Certifications:  

  • Registered Nurse in any US State or Territory
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonate Resuscitative Program (NRP) 
  • STABLE 

Experience: 

  • One (1) year of labor and delivery experience, as a Registered Nurse, within the last three (3) years.


Duties: 

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care, including labor support, delivery assistance (vaginal, assisted, and cesarean), and postpartum care.
  • Assist in procedures such as amniocentesis, amnioinfusion, vaginal exams, Foley insertion, intrauterine catheter placement, and epidural/spinal anesthesia support.
  • Support obstetric interventions including vacuum/forceps-assisted deliveries, Bakri balloon placement, fetal monitoring (NSTs, scalp electrode), and newborn stabilization.
  • Participate in emergency responses including CODE situations, blood transfusions, and neonatal resuscitation; perform airway management and injury stabilization.
  • Administer and manage medications via IV, IM, and subcutaneous routes, including reversal agents; manage central access devices (e.g., PICC lines).
  • Perform and interpret vital signs (including orthostatic), EKGs, glucose checks, phlebotomy, cultures, and wound care.
  • Assist with minor procedures such as L&D, circumcision, and suture removal; provide post-op care (e.g., Phase II recovery).
  • Operate and monitor a variety of medical equipment, including telemetry and L&D monitors.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including patient history, behavioral health screenings, and postpartum evaluations.
  • Educate patients and families throughout the perinatal continuum, including postnatal care and newborn needs.
  • Document accurately in EMR/EHS systems and assist with appointment setting, coding, and front desk operations as needed.
  • Uphold infection control practices; ensure proper specimen handling and prepare procedure rooms appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and fully stocked clinical environment in compliance with hospital policy and Joint Commission standards.
  • Collaborate closely with providers, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Perform daily quality control checks and support clinic preparation activities as needed.
