Part time Assistant Swim Coach bei Loyola University - New Orleans, LA

About the Department

Within the framework of the Loyola University New Orleans mission of educating the whole person, the Assistant Swim Coach will support both the men’s and women’s swim teams by fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the position.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Head Swim Coach in providing coaching expertise and administrative duties for the intercollegiate Swim program on a part-time basis.

Position Duties

• Aid in organization and assist in supervision for all practices and contests.
• Perform specific coaching and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
• Travel with team(s) to events as required.
• Conduct said duties within the rules and regulations of NAIA, the Sun Conference, and the University.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Swim Coach.
• Assume the duties of the university Campus Security Authority (CSA), including but not limited to, reporting crimes as defined through the Cleary Act and providing annual reporting statistics. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum Highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
•  of 1 year coaching or playing experience, manager experience, or GA experience
• Ability to work effectively with college student-athletes, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community
• A working knowledge of collegiate swimming rules
• A philosophy of intercollegiate athletics which places the highest emphasis on the pre-eminence of the academic mission of the institution and role of athletics as a part of the student’s total educational experience for both the student-athlete and the student non-athlete
• A well developed personal system of ethical values which will be used as the basis for supervising and developing student athletes in the swim program 
• Beliefs basically supportive of and compatible with the principles of Catholic, Jesuit higher education and the specific goals of the university
• Must possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license as a condition of employment, and must also be able to successfully pass any driver background information investigation and any driver education courses required by Risk Management.

• The assistant Swim coach must be able to lift heavy objects up to 25 lbs., walk about the Swim Facilities on consecutive days, and drive and transport athletes if needed.
