About the Department

The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission is one of the largest organizations servicing both Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.  In both counties we manage the park systems, but in Prince George’s county we also develop the public’s recreation programs.

Under the Department of Parks & Recreation, the Facility Services Division (FSD) is the largest division in Parks & Recreation. We provide high quality maintenance and maintenance support services for all of the parks and recreation facilities within Prince George’s County. We have six major work areas: Fleet Management, Buildings & Structures (Trade Shops), Horticulture & Forestry, Major Maintenance & Inspection, Critical Projects (FMT, Heavy Equipment and ADA) and the Administration section.

Position Duties

This Sr. Clerical/Inventory Technician position resides within the Fleet Management section and reports directly to the Fleet Manager.  Candidate will work in a busy fleet office conducting physical inventories and make adjustments to stock levels to maintain stock, ensuring all equipment is tagged and recorded before deployment and an accurate database is maintained of all equipment, loading of stock onto light Commission vehicles and delivering, returning and picking up parcels, Records and reconciles fuel logs; compiles yearly vehicle fuel consumption rates and submits requisitions to the supervisor to reorder fuel as needed, submits computer generated reports to the supervisor, generates automated inventory, procurement, accounts payable reports as requested, coordinating the Commission’s bus schedule with various areas and assigning drivers, maintain staff uniforms with various vendors and uniform rental companies, maintain stocking inventory for various automotive, heavy truck, heavy equipment and small engines for three (3) garages and maintain vehicle and heavy truck tire inventory.  In addition, the incumbent will maintain fuel allotments with all maintenance facilities and golf courses in the department, ordering and keeping records for M.D.E., maintain purchase orders and spreadsheets for various fleet expenditures and work with the fleet administration personnel for tracking purposes with finance and maintain records in the Fleet Faster System, which covers all aspects of vehicle and equipment inventory.  This is a two-person operation in a demanding stockroom.  ASE Automotive and Fuel Ordering experience preferred.  

SALARY $47,419-$65,701-$83,983

(Work Hours are 6:30 am – 3:15 pm)

Preferred candidates will have experience ordering Automotive, Light Truck and Heavy Truck parts.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED). 
  2. Four (4) years of office clerical experience (e.g., office support work, mail processing, reproduction/printing, or inventory maintenance and control). 
  3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total four (4) years. 
  4. Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's licenses must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position.
  5. Pass Commission medical examination.
