Role Overview:
Beehive Industries is looking for an energetic and driven Lead Engineer, Combustor Systems that has experience working with aviation product applications gas turbine experience from a mechanical and aero design perspective. This role will partner with various cross-functional leadership on a daily basis facilitating development and delivery of a gas turbine combustor system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set the vision for the combustor module system within the broader engine system and lead a cross-functional team of engineers from aerodynamic, thermal, mechanical, material, and manufacturing disciplines to execute analytical, design, and programmatic milestones as required from the business.
- Serve as the combustor module design subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team. Ensure products and sub-systems meet overall requirements from a design perspective. Lead component and system trades from a module perspective. Coordinate with cross-functional team to optimize the overall system to meet product requirements.
- Adapt to the needs of the team and program to ensure execution of milestones and objectives. Execute design and analysis tasks across disciplines where needed within the combustion module to support the broader team.
- Lead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials and system analysis.
- Set test objectives and limits, instrumentation and test data requirements, and test planning to execute component validation.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Lead methodologies to develop new technologies to optimize the overall aerodynamic performance of a gas turbine with additive manufacturing. Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design to drive further capability in combustor systems.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices.
- Work with suppliers to procure hardware and resolve producibility and quality issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- At least 8+ years of experience in combustor design
- Strong understanding of design software tools as used in modelling (CAD) and analysis (CFD, FEM)
- Experience working with gas turbines for aviation product applications from a mechanical and aero design perspective.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Experience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles.
- Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability.
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Fuel system and engine / combustor starting expertise as it pertains to expendable systems that utilize energetics for starting.
- Passion for disruptive design and manufacturing technologies and practices.
- Familiarity with engine system design and trades (NPSS, for example).
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $161,000- $191,000 base salary. Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
