Student Worker – Communication Intern

Purpose/Objective of the Role:
The Department of Journalism and Communication is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate intern to support administrative, communication and diversity-focused initiatives. This unique role offers hands-on experience at the intersection of media, strategic communication and equity work in higher education.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Assist with department communications and updating website/Blackboard content.
- Support faculty and staff with event planning, logistics, and promotion.
- Conduct basic research or gather information for departmental projects and reports.
- Assist in the planning and execution of equity-related programs, workshops, and campaigns.
- Support internal and external communications that promote campus diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.
- Conduct outreach to student groups and campus partners for DEI initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled OWU undergraduate student in good academic standing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in communication, diversity, or higher education administration.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, Canva, and basic content management systems is a plus.
- Commitment to inclusivity and cultural awareness.
