Position Description:
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our products team. Voyager’s products team creates new designs and modifies existing designs to be added to our standard products offering. This position will be designing cutting-edge components for space and national security applications including Software Defined Radios, Digital Processing Systems, Space Rated Cameras, Star Trackers and Laser Communications.
Responsibilities:
· Lead the design and development of space-qualified electronics, including software defined radios, digital processing systems, space rated cameras, state-of-the art FPGAs and microprocessors, power supplies, electrical cables, and other digital and analog circuits
· PCB design, including schematic capture, layout and routing, symbol and footprint creation, and generation of fabrication files and assembly drawings
· Author technical documents such as assembly instructions, test procedures, interface requirements, and test and analysis reports
· Support Contract Manufacturers in building PCB assemblies
· Utilize test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, etc. to conduct electrical development, board bring up, and troubleshooting
· Perform and/or oversee qualification and acceptance testing
· Support proposal efforts by providing solutions to design challenges, documenting technical approaches, and contributing to cost and schedule estimates
· Deliver regular status reports and updates to engineering management/program management
· Collaborate with firmware/software engineering team to design required hardware-software interfaces
· Collaborate with other engineering disciplines for successful project execution
· Design for X with a focus on cost and time to market
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in the field of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant engineering discipline from an accredited college/university.
· 8+ years of hardware design experience with emphasis on FPGA and microprocessor driven systems
· Experience designing, testing, and integrating electrical systems.
· Experience with interface buses/protocols used in embedded systems such as PCI, USB, RS-422/232, SPI, I2C, SpaceWire, Ethernet, CAN,etc.
· Experience designing for high-speed interfaces such as FPGA SERDES and Gigabit Ethernet
· Comfortable working alongside firmware/software engineers during board bring up
· Experience designing complex PCBs with 20 to 30 layers
· Must be a US citizen
Preferred:
· Experience in the space hardware industry
· Experience with circuit modeling and simulation using LTSpice and HyperLynx
· Experience with Altium Designer
· Experience writing FPGA firmware or working with FPGA engineers
· Experience writing embedded software or working with embedded software engineers
· Experience with space-grade, radiation-hardened parts constrained by specifications such as NASA EEE-INST-002
Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000
