Description
AMHC is hiring a full-time OPTIONS Liaison to join our community-based overdose response team in Machias. You’ll work alongside law enforcement and first responders to help individuals experiencing a substance use crisis get connected to treatment, recovery supports, and harm reduction services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with law enforcement and first responders to identify individuals and families in need of SUD intervention.
- Respond in real time to SUD/OUD-related emergency calls, with priority on non-fatal overdoses.
- Conduct brief behavioral health assessments and assist in de-escalating behavioral health crises.
- Provide short-term interventions and facilitate access to community treatment, harm reduction, and recovery services.
- Complete follow-up within 72 hours of an overdose, offering support, resource navigation, and naloxone training.
- Partner with peer recovery coaches when available and assist with Medicaid applications for uninsured individuals.
- Use ODMAP (Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program) to monitor local overdose events.
- Submit CradleME referrals for pregnant or postpartum individuals in need.
- Coordinate testing and referrals for HIV, Hepatitis, and other health services.
- Lead or support community education sessions to reduce stigma and promote understanding of addiction and recovery.
- Participate in statewide technical assistance and team-based case review meetings.

Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Persons in long-term recovery, greater than 12 months from substance use.
- Qualifications to obtain a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) level of licensure will be pursued unless the applicant already has this.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
