JOB SUMMARY
Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within the organization.
Perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of balance sheet transactions for both assets and liabilities. Review documentation for assets and liabilities for accuracy to reconcile accounts, find discrepancies and assess how to correct any errors.
This role will be the primary or backup for the following, as determined upon training for: fixed assets, accounts payable, daily balancing function, daily cash settlements, monthly/quarterly reports, and various other daily/weekly/monthly reconciliation of accounting functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain and manage fixed asset accounting records and processes.
- Serve as the primary backup for the bank’s accounts payable system.
- Support daily cash management activities, with the goal of assuming primary responsibility.
- Assist with investment portfolio transactions, including pledge coverage, assignment and release of pledges, correspondence with investment firms and customers, and transaction processing.
- Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of various accounts, including cash and general ledger accounts for revenue and expenses; initiate reconciliations as needed.
- Ensure accurate coding and classification of financial entries.
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department.
- Ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and related regulatory documentation requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of other accounting functions to serve as a backup for daily balancing and monthly report preparation.
- Collaborate with external vendors, the CFO, and the Controller to ensure timely completion of IRS, state, and regulatory filings.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Environment: This position is primarily office-based, with no regular remote work. Some travel may be required to attend meetings, training, or regulatory engagements.
- Schedule: This is a full-time role, generally requiring availability during standard business hours. Flexibility may be needed for special projects, deadlines, or board meetings.
- Physical Demands: This role is largely sedentary but may involve light physical activity, such as moving files or setting up for meetings.
- Stress Levels: At times, the Accounting Specialist will work under tight deadlines and must manage high-pressure situations.
Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field. (Two-year degree considered only with extensive experience)
- Two years or more of progressively more responsible experience with a financial organization.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.

- Microsoft Excel Expertise: Skilled in spreadsheets, formulas, and data organization.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Able to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using standard office equipment, including computers, calculators, and accounting software.
