OTD Capstone Coordinator- Faculty/Instructor Description
South College Nashville Campus is seeking an Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) Capstone Coordinator. The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator (DCC) holds a faculty appointment, is considered a full-time, core faculty member, and has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the South College OTD program. The DCC will enhance the scholarly productivity of the OTD students and oversees the research coursework, with faculty collaboration, within the OTD program including Capstone Projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee student scholarly activities, including the Doctoral Capstone project and experience.
- Ensure Capstone Projects align with South College’s mission, program goals, and ACOTE standards.
- Mentor and coach students throughout the Capstone process, supporting growth and addressing challenges.
- Coordinate student placements, secure qualified site supervisors, and maintain diverse learning opportunities.
- Guide student research projects from proposal to IRB approval and dissemination of findings.
- Partner with faculty to plan, develop, and evaluate research and Capstone learning outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison to the University’s offices and committees related to Research, Grants, Compliance, and other Sponsored Programs.
- Shape and refine the Capstone curriculum, policies, and assessments to ensure excellence and compliance.
- Evaluate student performance in collaboration with faculty and site supervisors.
- Support and develop Capstone Educators/Site Supervisors through mentorship, feedback, and training.
- Assess Capstone sites through student feedback, visits, and continuous quality improvement.
- Teach assigned courses and contribute to the program’s leadership, mission, and growth as agreed upon with the Program Director.
Requirements
Minimum Education:
- Conferred Doctorate Degree awarded from an institution that is accredited by a United States Department of Education recognized regional accrediting body.
- Preferred Degree types: OTD, PhD, or other Doctorate Degree in a closely-related field.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
- Active / Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of Tennessee (or state of residence).
- Initially certified by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.
