Position Summary
Serves as the primary coordinator of the Nursing department. Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the Director of Nursing. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for reimbursement purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, administering medications, and performing skin tests as directed by the Director of Nursing.

- Receive, review, and track all incoming health/nursing information, ensuring the data entry is clear and concise.
- Review all nurse visit documentation for completeness and compliance with guidelines and regulations.
- Verify and process new physician orders as directed by Director of Nursing.
- Update and maintain HRST, QuickMAR, and Therap with relevant medical information to ensure accurate record keeping.
- May give injections, Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) tests, handle specimen collection, and take vital signs as directed by the Director of Nursing.
- Organize and maintain the nursing department’s supply cabinets and distribute necessary supplies to nurses and caregivers.
- Organize and maintain the nursing department’s biohazard waste account ensuring compliance with best practice measures and regulatory requirements.
- May complete a brief assessment of individuals supported including; vital signs and assess for out of baseline symptoms that requires a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to further assess.
- Assist in the quality assurance processes, new admissions, compliance audits, and other nursing lead projects or events.
- Ensure effective communication with outside entities or vendors and maintain open lines of communication with pharmacy and medical providers.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have customer service experience.
- 1 – 2 years working in a medical office, preferred.
- Familiarity/experience with medical terminology, required.
- Experience with EPIC, Therap, QuickMAR, or HRST a plus.
- Medical Assistant certification, preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities & Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and function well in a high-paced (at times stressful) environment.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, with all stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance (use of personal vehicle required at times).
- Acceptable background checks.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
