Job Description
Job Title: Teacher Caregiver

Summary
Assist staff with both long and short range goals in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophies. They work in preschools, daycare centers, pre-kindergarten programs, and, in some cases, school systems to oversee and coordinate childcare and educational programs, and other programs as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.- Plan both long and short range goals in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophies.
- Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
- Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum lesson planning, following the approved curriculum.
- Coordinate field trips
- Prepare monthly plan charts
- Complete bi-annual assessment of children's development
- Report progress of children to parents in bi-annual reports and through parent-teacher conferences
- Maintain daily open communication with parents
- Keep accident reports
- Maintain anecdotal records
- Maintain confidentiality
- Report any suspect abuse to supervisor
- Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
- Attend in-service and staff meetings
- Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom
- Keep all appropriate records such as records, attendance and time sheets.
- Meet all applicable licensing regulations
Qualifications

Preferred Education and/or Experience- Minimum of AA degree or equivalent preferably in Early Childhood
- One (1) year experience working with children in a teaching position or equivalent
Education and/or Experience
MINIMUM STATE REQUIREMENTS - CPR and First Aid trained, TB Tested, and documentation of ONE of the following: 6 months experience and a high school diploma or GED or At least 12 credit hours in early childhood, child development, or closely related field OR NAC/CDA/ or CCP credentials OR An associate’s degree or bachelor degree, from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely related field. All experience must be in a licensed day care facility.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to stand, walk for long periods of time and occasionally run; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods of time; walk, and occasionally run. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Terms of Employment - Salary based on column E of the Classified Salary schedule as established by the Governing Board.
- 10-month position, 8 hours per day.
