- Assist VP of Operations to ensure the pharmacy provides optimal service, meets legal and accreditation/certification requirements, and complies with all policies and standards of Asteria Health.
- Collaborate with the VP of Operations to develop and manage performance metrics to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and financial performance.
- Assist with the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and ancillary personnel, to maintain daily operations.
- Provide drug information, as needed, to meet the needs of physicians and nurses through direct contact or in-service programs.
- Ensure adherence of federal, state, and local regulations, including Joint Commission standards, DEA, FDA, and State Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Prepare various reports and maintain records or supervise the maintenance of records as required or requested by management.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve patient outcomes.
- Track and report on key performance metrics related to back-end operations (e.g. prescription accuracy, turnaround times, and inventory levels, etc.) and present findings to upper management on back-end performance and compliance.
- Maintain current knowledge of drug therapies and drug reactions and interactions by reading professional literature, attending seminars, and utilizing professional affiliations.
- Complete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow; verifying the preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, order entries, and inspections.
- Collect and analyze data to draw conclusions and make recommendations to develop and implement operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with current HIPAA requirements maintaining confidentiality of patient information and understand, interpret, explain and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies governing pharmacy operations.
- Oversee the use of pharmacy management software and ensure all team members are trained in its use.
- Coordinate with the purchasing department to manage supply chain and vendor relationships.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
- Must hold a current, valid license with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy in good standing.
- Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy, PharmD is preferred.
- Must also be licensed in AL, AR, CA, FL, ID, KY, LA, MD, MI, MS, NE, OK, OR, TN, TX, VA, WV or be willing to test/exam and or reciprocate licensure according to individual state requirements and timeframes as part of the employment agreement.
- Minimum of three (3) years pharmacy experience. One-year managerial experience is preferred.
- Must be proficient with basic computer programs and able to handle multiple requests at one time, as well as ensure that drug claims are handled in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Work well under pressure and demonstrate the ability to prioritize workloads.
- Display excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
