SUMMARY: The Environmental Services Supervisor (ESS) oversees all custodial services at Esperanza Health Center's (EHC) clinics. The ESS is responsible for promoting the highest standard of safety and cleanliness in a cost efficient manner; maintaining environmental services equipment and supplies; performing cleaning and custodial tasks; monitoring departmental budget and inventory; and supervising custodial specialists.
Additional responsibilities include working alongside the custodial staff, planning and scheduling the work shifts of custodial specialists, training and inspecting the work of custodial specialists. The ESS is also responsible for grounds keepings at all EHC clinics. The ESS will assist the Facilities Maintenance Technician with repairs and maintenance throughout all sites. ESS is responsible to stay current on relevant Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and compliance with applicable regulations. Evenings, weekends and on-call availability required. This role is about 75% hands on custodial work and 25% administrative work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. CUSTODIAL MAINTENANCE
- Oversees the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training, of members of the custodial staff
- Plans and oversees all custodial work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency for all health center sites.
- Maintains an inventory and recommends selection of suitable custodial supplies.
- Inspects the performance of the custodial staff on a regular basis.
- Sweeps and wet and dry mop floors.
- Cleans, dusts, washes and polishes surfaces. This includes all interior and exterior walls, floors, ceilings and fixtures.
- Waxes floors and operates buffing machines.
- Vacuums and cares for carpeting which includes steam cleaning as needed
- Washes windows and cleans restrooms.
- Moves furniture and performs set up for meetings as required.
- Checks heating and air conditioning for proper operation.
- Trains custodial staff in the operation of floor cleaning machinery
- Responds to work requests in a timely fashion.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
B. GROUND KEEPING
- Cuts lawns using push power movers.
- Trims and edges around sidewalks, driveways, and flower beds using power equipment.
- Prunes shrubs and trees.
- Cleans grounds and removes litter
- Removes graffiti.
- Keeps all storm drain inlets clear of leaves and debris.
- Power washes and cleans sidewalks.
- Plans and executes snow removal at all EHC sites and properties.
B. FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
- Will work closely Facilities Maintenance Technician in all aspects of project implementation.
- Will cross-train with Facilities Maintenance Technician as needed to assist with needed projects. This includes but is not limited to painting, repair and installation.
- Operation and maintenance of ATV for snow removal and/or salting.
- Lift and move office supplies and furniture, as well as medical equipment.
- Attends/participates in semi-annual power outage failure simulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Minimum 5-7 years profession experience required.
- Knowledge of health care systems and related services.
- Spanish preferred not required
- Custodial experience required
- Supervisory experience required
- Working knowledge of custodial machinery and chemicals.
- Ability to prioritize and maintain calm during high stress times.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle many details and multiple priorities. Must show ability to organize, process, and verify details.
