Job Summary

Working under general direction the Project Manager role will be responsible for planning and overseeing projects within the US IT organization, working with individual(s) and/or group(s) across Phoenix Contact, both locally and globally.  Success will be characterized by, but not limited to, delivery of projects that are on time, within budget, and within scope, meeting project objectives and helping the organization realize project benefits, effective communication and organization of concurrent activities, collaboration across multiple teams, and alignment with corporate processes and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Works with team managers to define resource requirements, manage resource availability and allocation, both internal and third party.
  • Outlines project budgets based on requirements and tracks costs to deliver projects on budget.
  • Prepares detailed project plans to schedule key project milestones, critical path, workstreams, and activities.
  • Tracks and monitors projects from initiation through delivery, interfacing with all technical and non-technical team members, extended team members and stakeholders.
  • Provides regular status reports to project teams, key stakeholders and others to be consulted and informed.
  • Manages and adjusts baselines and timeline for any changes in project scope, schedule, and/or budget.
  • Identifies and communicates risks and tracks/manages their mitigation.
  • Manages relationships and communications with clients and/or stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered to the satisfaction of these groups.
  • Works effectively in a matrix organization with IT service delivery managers and colleagues within the global DPS organization.
  • Assists in determination and delivery of IT project needs, capacity planning, prioritization of projects and essential activities as needed and necessary.
  • Aligns with global DPS/IT Project Management Milestone processes
  • Collaborates with Program Managers as necessary for project and strategic planning
  • Maintains pertinent documentation (including but not limited to):
    • Requirements and specifications
    • Risk lists, mitigation, and contingency plans
    • Milestone checklists
  • Work with other Project Managers on PMO process enhancements and standardization on the project toolkit with input and feedback from other IT leaders.
  • Execute as knowledge leader in project management on project tools, concepts, and standards for best practice.
  • Other duties as assigned by one’s Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in in Information Systems or Business field of study with at least 3 years experience leading projects. Or 8 years of IT project management experience.
  • 5 (+) years of relevant professional-level work experience preferred.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), or the ability to achieve certification within first year.
  • Strong background in IT disciplines and related architecture
  • Professional experience with both Agile and Waterfall Project Management methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to diverse cultures, time zones, and related factors.
  • Excellent presentation and business communication skills for executive, managerial, and individual contributor staff levels.
  • Professional attitude and well organized.
  • Self-starting, self-motivated, self-confident individual, open to taking on challenges and finding ways to succeed.
  • Proficient with Windows based office applications and project management tools.
  • Excellent people skills, easy to work with, and the ability to motivate others.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities.
  • Must be able to work in a global team environment.
  • Must display a very high degree of adaptability and flexibility to work jointly with others and accept suggestions and new ideas.

Essential Job Functions

  • Must be able to travel domestically and overseas for extended periods if required.
    • Must be eligible to receive a US passport
    • Must be able to travel by air
    • Must be able to ride in a car for an extended time
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (written & verbal).
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
  • This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days in the office.
