About the Department

The current vacancy is bilingual Spanish required and candidates are strongly encouraged to apply to be considered for future opportunities. Incumbents may be required to occasionally work in the evening and weekend as needed.

The Executive Services Division is now accepting applications for Child Care Resource and Referral Specialist.

Under general supervision, the Child Care Resource and Referral Specialist is responsible for fostering and maintaining relationships with families, providers and partners to ensure positive program outcomes for the Resource and Referral Department; provides, facilitates, and/or coordinates trainings, workshops and technical assistance to families and child care providers. Assists the Supervisor - Child Care Resource and Referral in creating and maintaining effective and efficient systems to support the delivery of “front door” early childhood services. Provides information and guidance to child care providers, families and the community, including information regarding child care services, guidance on choosing quality child care programs, and/or referring individuals and families to appropriate social service agencies in compliance with the Resource and Referral policies and procedures and as required through funding entities.

This position is full-time, in-person and has a work year of 12 months/ 261 days/ 8 hours per day.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination equivalent to:

  • Education: Graduation from high school and supplemented by college-level course work in Early Childhood Education, or related field, AND
  • Experience: Three (3) years related experience involving community services, social services, or health services work. Experience serving families with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers and completion of college coursework in infant/toddler education is preferred.
 LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid California driver's license
MAY REQUIRE:
  • Fluency in English and a second language (Spanish or Vietnamese) as specified by the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES

  • Assessments and interviews may take place virtually or in-person.
  • Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated. 
  • The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for September 24, 2025
  • Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for October 6, 2025.
  • Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list. 
  • Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for the week of October 20, 2025.
  • Second interviews may be held in-person.
  • Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their SchoolJobs.com applications, or as updated by candidates in their SchoolJobs.com master profiles. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily.
