Job Summary
- Provides limited supervisory work leading the housekeeping activities of a school building.
- Serves as a squad or crew leader of Custodial Assistants and full and part-time Custodial
- Assistants in a school building. Performs or participates in the performance of housekeeping activities.
- Provides weekly training and instruction to newly hired General Cleaning staff.
Essential Functions
- Leads a crew or squad of Custodial Assistants and full and part-time Custodial Assistants in the performance of housekeeping activities.
- Supervises all housekeeping staff assigned to a school building.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the building including but not limited to classrooms, shops, halls, auditorium, libraries, stairs, storage areas and the upkeep of grounds.
- Performs grass cutting and limited snow removal tasks.
- Secures building after occupancy.
- Prepares time and attendance records and general reports on the condition of the building and performance of staff.
- Travels to various locations to lead Custodial Assistants and General Cleaners in the performance of housekeeping activities.
- Provides classroom and on the job instruction to new hires and participates in evaluation and restraining, as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth school grade.
Cleaning Leader
- Five years of custodial, custodial, housekeeping experience which shall have included two years of supervisory experience with responsibility for cleaning personnel engaged in providing housekeeping services in a large commercial or public building or group of smaller buildings.
Certificates/Licenses
- Possession of a valid proper class motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to and during tenure of employment as a Cleaning Leader.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- The practices, methods, techniques, tools, materials and equipment which are essential to housekeeping activities.
- The occupational hazards and safety precautions pertaining to all phases of housekeeping activities.
- Supervisory methods and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to:
- Express oneself orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
