JOB SUMMARY:     

Under the direct supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Assembly Group Lead is responsible for training, providing senior support and assisting with the coordination of the daily activities of the assembly team. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with the coordination of daily assembly activities to optimize team efficiency and timely completion of projects. 
  • Provide senior support to the assembly team by answering questions and demonstrating proper assembly techniques, quality standards, and safety procedures. 
  • Train new and existing team members on assembly processes, standards, and best practices. 
  • Mentor staff to enhance technical skills, fostering a culture where team members are motivated to take initiative and consistently strive to improve performance. 
  • Hold team members accountable for dependability, including both attendance and productivity, to ensure team consistently meets production and quality expectations.
  • Provide hands-on support during peak workloads by performing assembly, packaging and part-handling tasks and moving parts between stations, as needed. 
  • Promote and support the requirements and principles of the Precise Quality Management System and AS9100.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • With limited supervision and quality work ethic, functions as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.
  • Holds oneself accountable for doing whatever is needed to meet the commitments made around project outcomes.
  • Maintains adequate levels of performance and motivation despite job tasks that are routine, repetitive, and/or non-stimulating. 
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directives.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and the ability to be flexible.
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills of assembly equipment.
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently. 
  • Ability to keep record of time spent and material used.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.              
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of experience on an assembly line 
  • Experience as a group lead, supervisor, or trainer preferred but not required


According to the New York Pay Transparency law, pay range for this job is $23.00 - $27.00 / hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
