The Steward I supports the culinary team by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen and dishwashing areas. This entry-level role ensures that dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen workspaces meet hygiene standards in support of smooth kitchen operations at The Westgate Hotel.

Responsibilities:

  • Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using dishwashing equipment or by hand
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dish pit and kitchen areas
  • Collect and dispose of kitchen garbage and recycling properly
  • Assist in sweeping and mopping kitchen floors and keeping all surfaces clean
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Restock cleaning supplies and notify supervisor of inventory needs
  • Support the culinary team with equipment setup and breakdown as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Steward or Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • No prior experience required; entry-level position with training provided
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in hot, humid, or wet conditions
  • Punctual, reliable, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Commitment to cleanliness and safety standards
