The Steward I supports the culinary team by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen and dishwashing areas. This entry-level role ensures that dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen workspaces meet hygiene standards in support of smooth kitchen operations at The Westgate Hotel.
Responsibilities:
- Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using dishwashing equipment or by hand
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dish pit and kitchen areas
- Collect and dispose of kitchen garbage and recycling properly
- Assist in sweeping and mopping kitchen floors and keeping all surfaces clean
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
- Restock cleaning supplies and notify supervisor of inventory needs
- Support the culinary team with equipment setup and breakdown as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Steward or Supervisor
Qualifications:
- No prior experience required; entry-level position with training provided
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in hot, humid, or wet conditions
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Commitment to cleanliness and safety standards
