Responsibilities:
- Lead and Inspire Programs for Active Older Adults
- Design, implement, and oversee engaging wellness, fitness, educational, and social programs that promote healthy aging and active lifestyles for members aged 55+.
- Inspire a sense of purpose and belonging by creating meaningful opportunities for involvement, learning, and personal growth.
- Support Healthy Living and Well-Being
- Collaborate with Health & Wellness staff to deliver age-appropriate exercise classes and evidence-based health programs that align with YMCA initiatives.
- Support members in achieving their wellness goals by providing guidance, encouragement, and resources.
- Connect Members to Community and Each Other
- Build relationships that foster trust, inclusion, and a sense of community among participants.
- Serve as a connector between older adults and YMCA services, as well as local community partners, resources, and volunteer opportunities.
- Maintain Program Excellence
- Monitor program success through regular evaluations, attendance tracking, and participant feedback.
- Ensure all programming follows YMCA safety and quality standards.
Requirements:
Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
- Excellent human relation skills and enthusiasm.
- Basic math skills and demonstrated recordkeeping proficiency.
- An elevated level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively.
- Successfully complete within 60 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/O2 Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen training, Child Abuse Prevention training, and all other required training as specified by your supervisor.
- Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Salary: $14.40-$14.90 per hr.
Hours Available: Part-time: 10 hours per week
- Flexible schedule, with the ability to manage hours based on program needs
- Must be available for occasional daytime events and activities
