Job Profile

The City of Cambridge is hiring Crossing Guards to work throughout the school year starting September 2, 2025 to June 25, 2026.

 

Spare Crossing Guard positions also available for on-call as needed throughout the City of Cambridge. Access to reliable transportation is required.  Spare Crossing Guards includes payment for mileage.

What you will be doing

  • Assist children to cross roads safely at designated school crossing locations and ensuring traffic remains stopped until all pedestrians have safely crossed the intersection. On-the-job training provided.
  • Must work in all forms of weather, including extremes of heat and cold.
  • Must be capable of working under all types of road conditions, exposure to traffic noise and exhaust from vehicles
  • Must be physically able to meet the demands of the role (Pre-employment assessment will be required)

Rate of Pay

The hourly rate of pay is $21.30 per hour.

Hours of Work

  • Must be available to work throughout the school season starting September 2, 2025 to June 25, 2026 as follows
  • Crossing Guards:  Hours will be scheduled specific to school hours of operation.
  • Spare Crossing Guards hours:  Must be available on an “on-call” basis for temporary and/or replacement shifts.

  • Industrial Rd at walkway (btwn Bishop st and Dunbar Rd)

Confirmation that you are physically able to perform the essential duties of the position, as assessed through our third party provider, prior to commencement in the position.
Current and valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check to be provided prior to commencement in this position.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training certificate from the Ministry of Labour. (may be obtained post offer)
