As the Engineering and Logistics Specialist you will support the commissioning and ILS engineering team by ensuring the efficient flow of technical resources, specifications, and information. This position plays a key part in the successful delivery of the icebreaker construction programs across sites located in Helsinki, Finland, and Lévis, Québec. More specifically, you will:
- Assist the Commissioning Manager to develop the commissioning schedule and integrate it into the IMS.
- Ensure the commissioning schedule is strictly followed to maintain budget and meet delivery dates.
- Track the status of production and quality control mechanical completion for each system, ensuring the team is mobilized and ready to begin commissioning.
- Assist the Commissioning Manager in tracking systematic progress of livening up and commissioning for weekly and monthly progress reporting.
- Assist the Commissioning Manager to collate the systematic completion packages to hand over to the client.
- Assist the ILS Manager to develop the ILS schedule and integrate it into the IMS.
- Assist the ILS Manager to collate the systematic completion packages to hand over to the client.
- Assist the ILS Manager to collate the ILS delivery package as per the contract.
- Assist the managers responsible for engineering and technical aspects in the management and tracking of technical deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and change orders.
- Support the integration of engineering schedules with production and procurement to ensure specifications and resources are available as required.
- Work closely with engineers to identify logistical constraints and develop mitigation plans.
- Provide weekly engineering activity report to Polar Max PMO for all engineering FTEs assigned to the program.
- Support the movement, storage, and tracking of engineering-related specifications and components within the shipyard.
- Ensure technical parts and specifications are sourced, delivered, and staged according to production needs and quality standards.
- Support inventory planning by forecasting resource requirements based on engineering and commissioning schedules.
Requirements
- Experience in engineering coordination, shipbuilding logistics, or a related technical field, with a strong ability to learn and adapt to complex industrial environments.
- Good understanding of engineering documentation, technical drawings, and production workflows.
- Ability to analyze constraints and proactively address logistical challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Bilingual in French and English; proficiency in English is required for this position, as the incumbent will be required to interact with our English-speaking clients, partners, and suppliers.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a shipbuilding facility, with good working knowledge of shipbuilding processes.
- PMP experience or certification is an asset.
- Availability for regular travel to Helsinki Shipyard in Finland.
- Must undergo and successfully complete the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government’s Contract Security Program, as well as meet the requirements of the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
