GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Turning Point Community Programs, this at-will medical position within a
program works in collaboration with psychiatrist to assess physical/medical needs of mental health
clients. This position is responsible for all aspects of medical and psychiatric services. Additionally,
this position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of assigned staff who perform the established
duties of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

  • The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that could be
    performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the
    work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.
    Provides assessment and recommendations for therapeutic treatment.
  • Prescribes medication.
  • Performs injections/blood draws as needed.
  • Orders, interprets and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physician.
  •  Teaches clients and their case manager’s necessary information regarding medication, side
    effects, drug interactions and other health issues.
  •  Monitors and reports adverse reactions to medications or treatment to physician.
  •  Makes referrals as needed.
  •  Provides training to other staff members regarding any medical related information as needed;
    keeps abreast of current medical information and pertinent professional developments by
    attending workshops, meetings, etc.
  •  Assists psychiatrists, and psychiatric residents with specific client care tasks as requested.
  •  Maintains valid RN and NP licenses.
  •  Maintains valid DEA certification.
  •  Provides medical support to other Turning Point facilities as needed.
  •  Participates in multi-disciplinary health conferences.
  •  Ensures compliance with state licensing standards.
  •  Interacts productively within the team in order to provide highest quality services to clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through completion of
a master’s degree in nursing; two (2) years of experience in community mental health providing direct
patient treatment/care.

  • LICENSES; CERTIFICATES; SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
    Valid California Registered Nurse License.
  • Valid California Nurse Practitioners License.
  •  Valid DEA Certificate.
  •  Valid and current First Aid/CPR certification.
  •  California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and,
  •  Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five
    years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and
    motorcycles.

Schedule: Full Time  M-F   Must be available to go to multiple sites in Placer County Area.
