***This position is supported through grant funding. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funds.***
The purpose of the class is to develop, analyze, and maintain systems that examine violence patterns. The incumbent will use data to create effective interventions that target specific risk factors while evaluating the effectiveness of programs designed to reduce gun violence. The Data Analyst, will play a critical role in analyzing deaths and injuries within high-risk areas, assessing the impact of policy changes, overseeing a comprehensive evaluation system, and developing recommendations to improve processes. Performs duties under the general supervision of the Youth Violence Prevention Director.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a closely related field of study and a minimum of one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in practices and programs for youth, family engagement, child development or family-focused social work or closely related experience.
- Requires knowledge of best practices related to data processing and analytic systems.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Able to identify pressing needs and prioritize those as needed, without losing track of other tasks and responsibilities; Ability to effectively manage time and resources.
- Requires considerable travel within the City of Hampton.
- This position may be considered essential/emergency personnel for purposes of emergency/crisis management to include long hours, unusual schedules, and being "on-call" or responding to emergency situations during inclement weather and/or other job-related conditions.
