Description
The Director of Community Services is responsible for leading and overseeing all Community Service Programs. The Director will guide a diverse team, manage program budgets, foster partnerships, and oversee grant compliance to ensure program sustainability. The Director will play a critical role in ensuring that these programs are effectively integrated to meet the evolving needs of the communities served. This position requires a strategic leader with a strong commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and resilience within the community and across internal teams. By providing vision and leadership, the Director will work to elevate program impact, ensure sustainability through partnerships, and advocate for underserved populations. In addition, the Director will oversee the development and sustainability of programs, ensure programs are aligned with the mission, and provide reports to leadership on program performance, fiscal health, and community impact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Management:
- Direct and oversee all Community Service Programs, including but not limited to; the Health and Nutrition Programs, Predatory Loan Relief Program, and Disaster Response and Recovery programs and staff within the programs.
- Ensure that these programs effectively meet the evolving needs of the communities served by Catholic Charities, focusing on food security, wellness, financial stability, and other key community initiatives.
- Integrate and align program strategies to ensure that services are delivered efficiently, holistically, and in alignment with Catholic Charities' mission and values.
- o Foster innovation and resilience within programs, encouraging the team to develop new strategies to meet community challenges.
Strategic Planning and Program Development:
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the community service programs, ensuring alignment with the agency’s overall goals.
- Oversee the development, sustainability, and growth of programs, ensuring they continue to effectively address community needs.
- Provide vision and leadership to elevate the impact of these programs, seeking continuous improvements in service delivery and outcomes.
· Fiscal and Operational Oversight:
- Manage program budgets, ensuring responsible fiscal management, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with financial goals.
- Ensure programs remain financially sustainable by overseeing grants and funding compliance.
- Monitor and report on program performance, including financial health, program outcomes, and alignment with long-term goals.
· Staff Management and Community Engagement:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a diverse team of program staff by providing guidance, support, and training to ensure effective program delivery, professional growth, and staff retention. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to enhance team performance and program quality.
- Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and government agencies to support and expand program initiatives.
- Advocate for underserved populations, ensuring that their needs are met through strategic outreach, partnerships, and programmatic solutions.
· Other duties as assigned.
Expectations
Full-time staff members must be present at their assigned work site Monday through Friday, typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Core working hours may vary depending on the role and program needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises Community Services staff.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in social work, nonprofit, business management, or a related field preferred.
At least 5 years of experience in community services, social services, or nonprofit program management.
At least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
None required.
Other Qualifications
Must successfully pass the Family Care Safety Registry and criminal background check and complete the Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS training session. Possesses a valid driver's license and meets agency requirements for auto insurance coverage. Local travel is a necessary component of the role.

The work of Catholic Charities serves as an expression of the ministry of evangelization of the Roman Catholic Church by serving the poor and most vulnerable in our society. Although staff are not to proselytize, they are, however, expected to be guided in every way by the teachings of the Catholic faith in their daily work. These include church teachings on abortion, sterilization, abstinence, and the sanctity of the family as well as fidelity to the Catholic ethical religious directive of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. In addition, all staff are invited to attend periodic Catholic Masses. As employees of Catholic Charities, it is further expected that staff will adhere to the Diocesan code of conduct. Employees are expected to not only perform duties consistent with the Doctrines of the Catholic faith, but outside of the workplace they are expected to refrain from publishing any communication in any form, electronic or otherwise, that affiliates them with Catholic Charities in a manner that is inconsistent with the doctrine of the Roman Catholic faith.
