The Position:
We are seeking a full-time Family Support Specialist for our Healthy Families America (HFA) program at our Palmdale site in the Antelope Valley. The Family Support Specialist provides home-based HFA services to families.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide in-home support services to families following the Healthy Families America (HFA) program model.
- Plan and coordinate home-based activities that support child development and family engagement.
- Develop individualized family service plans in collaboration with parents, team members, and community resources.
- Promote child safety, development, and positive parent-child interactions through age-appropriate activities and coaching.
- Support parental involvement and help parents build positive self-esteem and parenting skills.
- Facilitate access to medical care and early childhood services by coordinating with local providers.
- Lead and organize family gatherings, trainings, and community meetings with HFA team support.
- Assist parents transitioning to employment, including help with child care arrangements.
- Maintain records, monitor progress, and participate in ongoing training and development.
- Uphold the agency’s mission, values, and cultural principles while performing other assigned duties.
- Starting salary: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
- Hours: Monday – Friday, schedule is based on the needs of the center and requires the ability to work a non-traditional schedule
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to build trusting, professional relationships.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and families, including in home-based settings. Knowledge in maternal mental health preferred.
- Creative and engaging in service delivery, outreach, and teaching practices that support parent/child interaction.
- Skilled in assessment, planning, and adjusting service intensity based on family needs and supervisory feedback.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to coordinate services across multiple providers and cultural backgrounds.
- Highly organized and self-motivated, with good judgment, time management, and the ability to work independently.
- Committed to professional development, confidentiality, and maintaining high quality and ethical standards.
- Proficient with technology, maintaining punctuality, clean driving record, and appropriate workplace boundaries.
- B.A. / B.S. required
