The Impact You'll Make
As our Power Electronics Engineering Intern, you’ll play a key role in advancing the design and testing of power electronics for Danfoss’ next-generation oil-free compressors—helping deliver efficient, reliable solutions for mission-critical applications like data centers, comfort cooling, and process cooling.
Your impact? By contributing to the development of variable speed motor drives and magnetic bearing electronics, you’ll help improve product performance and ensure long-term reliability. Your work will directly support innovation and sustainability in global cooling systems.
You’ll collaborate with the Electronics Engineering team in Tallahassee and work closely with engineers across disciplines, applying your knowledge to real projects while gaining hands-on industry experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
Perform lab-based tasks such as soldering, measurements, cable harness creation, and circuit simulation
Use test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) to validate electronic designs
Document results, prepare reports, and share findings with the team
Collaborate with engineers to analyze data and explore design improvements
Learn and apply power electronics concepts to real-world engineering challenges
What We're Looking For
Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s, master's degree or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field
Knowledge of inverter technologies (IGBT, MOSFET, rectifiers, gate drivers, PWM/PAM)
Familiarity with passive components (inductors, capacitors, resistors, transformers)
Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
Skills in circuit simulation, transient analysis, and thermal cycling analysis
Strong analytical mindset, teamwork skills, and eagerness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of motor and power converter control technologies (AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC, DC-bus soft charging)
Familiarity with circuit/system simulation tools such as PSpice, MATLAB, or PSIM
Awareness of emerging technologies in power electronics
