SUMMARY
This position pulls and routes various types of product/material from stockroom to shipping dock.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following-
- Pull specified number of product for each addressee as indicated by instructions on sales orders.
- Scan product and place in shipping carton.
- Weigh packages and affix shipping labels and packing lists to packages based on customer requirements.
- Accurately record information such as value for insured and c.o.d. packages.
- Address packages or compare addresses with records to verify accuracy.
- Ensure correct carrier and terms (prepaid, collect, third party) and accounts are used for shipments.
- Sort parcels for shipment, according to carrier or other classification, and place parcels in mail bags, on conveyor or on pallets.
- Keep accurate records of materials sent.
- Request and store materials to maintain stock.
- Load the UPS truck by handing the packages from the dock to the driver
- Comply with all standard safety practices, safety rules, and all Company rules and policies.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not have any supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to identify products/part numbers.
- Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures.
- Familiarity with various forms used by major freight carriers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
- Excellent communication, ability to work well with others.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail – there are many different requirements for different customers.
- Must be able to stand for full shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to operate a pallet jack.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as packing slips, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
