We are currently seeking a Track Maintenance Specialist to support our Streetcar Way Engineering team!

 

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Track Maintenance Specialist provides track maintenance expertise for investigation and assessment of the condition of the Streetcar track network. This involves assisting track design engineers in developing safe, reliable, and efficient track system solutions; performing design reviews for feasibility and maintainability; providing input into design and improvement of track components and systems; offering expertise in maintenance and construction methodology; inspecting, assessing, diagnosing site conditions, and conducting root cause analysis.

What You Will Do

 

  • Support Streetcar Way Maintenance crews in maintenance, repair, and replacement projects.
  • Undertake studies to improve performance, efficiency, and reduce cost.
  • Assist engineers in designing and re-engineering track components and systems.
  • Provide input for technical specifications and construction projects.
  • Study problem areas to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review shop drawings and inspect track materials.
  • Review designs and provide input on external work.
  • Offer track expertise to assess procedural, design, or material changes.
  • Assist in Capital project scope development and execution.
  • Inspect special track work, tangent and curved track and fasteners.
  • Recommend and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Advise crews and engineers on efficient use of labour, materials, and operations.
  • Assist with capital and operating budget development.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of Streetcar tracks.
  • Determine track quality indices and identify areas nearing maintenance tolerance limits.
  • Develop inspection methods and participate in decision-making.

  • University Degree or College Degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience in the track and design field deemed to be equivalent.
  • Your application will reveal track maintenance expertise including sound knowledge of track maintenance principles, methods, practices, and techniques related to track inspection, construction, maintenance, and emergency repair.
  • You must have the ability to read design drawings and use spreadsheet applications.
  • Your application will reveal the ability to carry out feasibility and constructability studies; evaluate alternative proposals; and assess construction and maintenance impacts.
  • Must be familiar with industry standards such as American Railway Engineering Maintenance Association (AREMA).
