Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Grand Junction, CO
One Full-Time Position. 40+ hours per week.
Monday through Friday.
Hiring Range: $135,000 to $147,150 / yr., depending upon education and experience.
This position will remain open until filled.
Minimum Requirements
Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and five years related experience.
Preferred:
• A Master's Degree or higher in Accounting or related field, or Certified Public Accountant certification.
• Prior department management or supervisory experience
• Proven track record as a non-profit CFO.

Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for the management and reporting of all financial and business transactions required to ensure the organization’s integrity and compliance in its financial and other business-related areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Oversee all accounting functions and accounting department staff.
2. Develop and maintains internal financial management policies, procedures and performance measures. Ensure compliance with all applicable financial, accounting and regulatory requirements; maintain a system of strong internal controls.
3. Direct the preparation of all financial statements; oversee annual financial audit(s).
4. Responsible for filing reports as required by Federal and State governments including, but not limited to, Federal IRS information return.
5. Work closely with departments in establishing priorities for the fiscal planning process and prepare the annual organizational budget. Compare budgeted expenses and revenues to actual and make or oversee any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets. Assist Leadership with financial projections as related to new and existing programming efforts.
6. Work to educate and communicate financial concepts to Leadership team members.
7. Responsible for strategic planning, identifying financial gaps, and ensuring the overall health of the organization.
8. Develop a strong working relationship with the Board of Directors. Present budgets, financial reports and updates to the CEO and the Board of Directors.
9. Manage investment accounts and cash accounts in compliance with investment policy and the direction of the Board of Directors. Monitor cash flow requirements.
10. Handle risk management, working with insurance agents to ensure proper coverage of all Ariel assets. Administer the organization’s insurance policies related to liability and general business needs.
11. Consistently model mission, vision and cultural values of Ariel to employees as it relates to the accounting function.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Demonstrated advanced knowledge in accounting principles and non-profit laws and standards.
2. Passion for the mission and work of Ariel Clinical Services.
3. Proven financial management and supervisory skills.
4. Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.
5. Proficient in accounting computer application systems.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey financial information in an understandable manner to non-financial stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated skill in exercising independent judgment within the scope and boundaries of Ariel, Ariel’s Standard Operating Procedures, and Federal, State and Local Rules and Regulations regarding Ariel operations.
8. Ability to be readily adaptable and change direction rapidly.
9. Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, complete a wide variety of tasks in a timely and accurate fashion and effectively direct others.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the accounting department employees.
Physical Demands
1. This position requires that the incumbent be capable of bending, sitting, stretching, and/or reaching regularly for periods up to two hours without a break.
2. This position requires that the incumbent have adequate hand and finger dexterity to properly perform the functions of the position.
3. This position requires lifting regularly up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
4. This position requires the ability to hear and see, at a level which is adequate to ensure effectiveness in the position, and client and staff health and safety. Adaptive devices are acceptable.
Work Environment
1. Exposure to typical climate-controlled office environment when in the office.
