SUMMARY:
TMC Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Grant Writer to support the mission-driven efforts of our nonprofit health system. This position plays a key role in identifying, writing, submitting, and tracking grant opportunities to support programs and capital needs across the TMC Health system, including Tucson Medical Center, TMC Rincon, TMCOne, Benson Hospital, Northern Cochise Community Hospital and the TMC Health Cancer Center.
The Grant Writer will collaborate closely with TMC Health Foundation leadership, hospital administrators, and clinical and programmatic teams to align grant opportunities with health system priorities, with a focus on advancing community health, rural access, innovation, and health equity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Research and Strategy
- Proactively identify public and private funding opportunities at the local, state, and federal level that align with TMC Health priorities.
- Monitor relevant grant databases and federal/state notices of funding availability (NOFAs).
- Proposal Development
- Prepare compelling, high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Lead or support proposal writing for complex, multi-partner initiatives involving hospitals, clinics, and community partners.
- Translate technical healthcare information into persuasive narratives tailored to funder priorities.
- Collaboration and Coordination
- Serve as a liaison between health system leadership, finance, legal, and program teams to gather input, data, and approvals.
- Facilitate meetings and timelines for proposal development and ensure timely submission.
- Compliance and Tracking
- Maintain a detailed grant calendar and records of submitted and awarded proposals.
- Assist with grant reporting, evaluation metrics, and stewardship in coordination with program staff.
- Impact Communication
- Contribute to reporting and storytelling that demonstrates the impact of grant funding across TMC Health and the communities we serve.
Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies, and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) – five (5) years of grant writing experience, preferably in a healthcare, foundation, or nonprofit setting.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to secure grants from government agencies and foundations
· Creative and collaborative, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
· Strong writing, editing, and project management skills.
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work effectively and produce positive outcomes that align with the organizational mission and resources.
· Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple deadlines.
· Demonstrated computer proficiency, including an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, email, the Internet, social media, etc. Familiarity with Teams a plus.
