URM Stores, Inc. is on the hunt for a passionate and experienced Communications Manager. Reporting to the CEO, the Communication Manager will play a pivotal role in crafting and steering all communications between URM and its Members, Customers, and key stakeholders. At the heart of this position is the development and strategic leadership of URM’s customer portal—establishing it as the organization’s primary hub for information, engagement, and connection. Beyond the portal, this role will oversee all digital and traditional communication channels, ensuring that every message reflects the URM brand with clarity, consistency, and impact. 


From spearheading creative content and bringing the company’s annual meeting and report to life, to teaming up with internal departments, IT pros, and media partners, the Communications Manager will be the driving force behind dynamic storytelling and engaging experiences at every turn.


What You’ll Be Spearheading as Our Communications Manager:

  • Design and execute a unified communications strategy that amplifies URM’s mission and advances organizational goals.
  • Lead the vision and evolution of URM’s customer portal, positioning it as the central hub for customer communication and engagement.
  • Oversee all Company communications—internal and external— ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with URM branding.
  • Manage content and updates across all company portals, websites, and digital platforms to ensure timely, accurate, and relevant messaging.
  • Drive the shift from traditional to digital communication, leading innovation and modernization efforts.
  • Collaborate with IT to identify and implement digital tools that enhance customer and member engagement.
  • Act as the primary gatekeeper for messaging, prioritizing and approving all outbound communications.
  • Create compelling content for newsletters, reports, websites, and digital platforms that inform and inspire.
  • Manage media relations, including writing and distributing press releases and building media connections.
  • Lead crisis communications, delivering fast, thoughtful, and accurate messaging in urgent or sensitive situations.
  • Safeguard and elevate URM’s reputation through proactive media outreach and stakeholder engagement.
  • Plan and manage the Company’s Annual Meeting and lead production of the Annual Report.
  • Provide strategic communication guidance to internal teams to ensure unified messaging across the organization.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve communication effectiveness and innovation.

Our Ideal Canidate’s Education, Experience, & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of proven success in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field, with a track record of impactful messaging and audience engagement.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities—you know how to craft clear, compelling content that connects and inspires.
  • Hands-on experience with digital communication tools, including content management systems, social media, and digital platforms.
  • Solid understanding of branding, media relations, and strategic communication planning.
  • A natural collaborator who works seamlessly across teams, including IT, leadership, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills—you thrive in fast-paced environments and juggle multiple priorities with ease.
  • Experience planning high-visibility events and producing polished corporate reports is a strong advantage.
  • A sharp sense for risk and reputation management, with the ability to navigate sensitive situations with poise and professionalism.

  • Target salary range is $80,000 - $85,000 annually. The selected candidate’s pay within the wage range will be based on several factors including: relevant education, experience, qualifications, certifications, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, geographic location and the prevailing minimum wage for that location, and business or organizational needs.
