This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Director of Sports, the Gym Attendant is responsible for overseeing the 4 court state of the art sports facility in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Requirements
- Oversee Daily Operations: Supervise daily activities in the gym and sports center, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all members.
- Staff Training and Development: Attend regular training sessions on YMCA policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Foster a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional growth.
- Behavior Management: Enforce YMCA rules and policies consistently and fairly. Address and resolve conflicts or behavioral issues among members and staff promptly and effectively. Implement and maintain behavior management strategies to ensure a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Facility Space Management and Setup: Coordinate the setup, teardown, and resetting of spaces for various sports and activities, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, and pickleball. Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and properly stored after use. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Safety and Security: Maintain a safe environment by ensuring compliance with all YMCA safety protocols and guidelines. Monitor access to the facility, ensuring only authorized individuals enter and use the space.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensure the gym and sports center are clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times. Coordinate with the maintenance team to address any repair or cleaning needs promptly.

- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
Qualifications:
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (YMCA provided within 30 days of hire date).
- DCFS Mandated Reporter Training certification (obtained within 30 days of hire date).
- Ability to and at least one year of experience developing positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND REQUIRED TRAININGS & CERTIFICATIONS
The Bloomington-Normal YMCA adheres to the strictest regulations pertaining to Child Abuse Prevention and requires all staff and volunteers to complete Child Abuse Prevention Training at time of hire and on an annual basis. Other required trainings and certifications, provided by the YMCA during on-boarding or within the first 60 days of employment, include: Illinois Mandated Reporter Certification, Illinois Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Training, CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and OSHA training including Bloodborne Pathogens.
