Summary
The Director, Digital Media & AdTech is a critical leadership role responsible for driving Bell's digital acquisition strategy and maximizing return on $60M+ in ad spend (ROAS) across all digital channels for brands that include Bell, Bell Media, Virgin Plus and Lucky Mobile. This role involves leading the development and execution of digital media campaigns, building strong relationships with key media vendors and marketing partners, and identifying and implementing innovative AdTech solutions to achieve business objectives. The Director will lead a team of focused digital media professionals on optimizing digital media spend, enhancing audience segmentation & targeting, and leveraging AI to improve marketing effectiveness and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision:
- Lead Bell's digital acquisition media strategy, aligning with business goals and contributing to overall marketing and business objectives.
- Define the vision and implement AI and new technologies across the team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Define future-state technology and organization, identifying top priorities and a plan to implement them.
- Establish clear priorities and focus areas to maximize impact and resource utilization across all digital media channels (Paid Search, Paid Social, Programmatic, AdOps) & AdTech teams (Audience Strategy & MarTech).
Digital Media Performance & AdTech Innovation:
- Drive innovation in marketing ad technology capabilities to improve digital marketing effectiveness and efficiency.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new digital media capabilities and technologies within existing and emerging digital advertising platforms.
- Optimize digital media spend to maximize cross-channel ROAS and enable new optimization strategies to drive business results.
- Lead digital media teams to derive actionable insights that directly support business objectives for customer, marketing and digital analytics.
- Evolve a world-class marketing technology ecosystem that drives efficiency through automation and reduces manual processes.
Collaboration & Partnership:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners (e.g. Google, Microsoft, Meta, etc.), positioning Bell as a leader in digital media and digital maturity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address marketing and business challenges through a Digital Media & AdTech lens.
- Develop a deep understanding of business and marketing needs, consulting with cross-functional teams to provide relevant Digital Media & AdTech solutions.
Team Development & Transformation:
- Build a streamlined, integrated team across digital media, audiences, and AdTech that maximizes the use of technology, AI, data, and automation to maximize business outcomes.
- Drive digital marketing transformation initiatives across the organization, fostering innovation and adoption of emerging technologies and tactics.
- Transform and bring best-in-class practices and knowledge in tech, data, and analytics to the team, driving the use of AI.
- Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Enable operational activities (i.e., training/learning sessions, forums) to keep teams informed of the latest digital marketing trends and technological advancements.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance marketing efficiency and effectiveness.
Operations & Miscellaneous:
- Regular monitoring of OPEX and perform budget reviews with Finance team to identify trends to improve cost management.
- Approve quarterly invoices for applicable vendors and suppliers.
- Support the negotiation of favorable terms with suppliers and regularly evaluating vendor performance to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Support media and budgeting dashboard designs and maintenance to ensure data accuracy and timely updates for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support adhoc reporting for cross-functional stakeholders to inform marketing strategies (e.g. creative, targeting, offers, etc.)
Critical Qualifications
- Extensive Digital Marketing Expertise: 10+ years of progressive digital marketing and in-platform experience, with advanced AdTech knowledge and a strong understanding of the digital media landscape. Telco/Entertainment experience is a plus.
- Proven Management & Analytical Skills: Demonstrated success in managing digital media projects and vendor relationships, with strong analytical skills for optimizing campaign performance.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with platforms (i.e. Google Marketing Platforms, Meta, TikTok, Adobe Analytics, Salesforce, etc.) and experience implementing website tagging and data tracking.
- Strategic & Collaborative Leader: Ability to provide strategic recommendations, influence partners, and lead cross-functional teams effectively. Strong communication skills to convey business value through data.
- Results-Oriented & Adaptable: Passionate about driving business results in fast-paced environments, with the ability to navigate change and manage deadlines.
- Team Player: Collaborative with strong interpersonal skills for managing senior leadership interactions.
- Growth Mindset: A strong desire to learn and understand our business and its challenges.
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
