JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Nursing Assistant FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Department: Surgery Center Reports To: Director of Nursing

Job Summary: Serves as support personnel following regulations for the practice of Nursing Assistants including assisting with patient admissions, patient procedures, care and maintenance of procedural instrumentation, discharging patients, chart preparation, medical records, assisting providers and other personnel as needed, and other collateral duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist recovery and/or preop nurses as scheduled during surgery
- Works with supply coordinator to receive and unload supply shipments
- Assist front desk coordinator as needed in prepping surgery charts
- Assist patients from OR to recovery
- Assist with transporting patients from recovery to their vehicle as needed
- Scans and batches surgery forms by end of the day
- Fax co-managed patients’ charts
- Assist in checking vitals in preoperative and post-operative units
- Re-stock supplies as needed (e.g. linens, gauze)
- Assist with OR turnover
- Assist with follow-up calls for surgical patients
- Assist with terminal cleaning of surgery units
- Assist with YAG, SLT, YAG PI lasers
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and practice guidelines
- Maintain a positive working relationship with staff
- Other duties as assigned

- Reports suspected abuse per protocol.
Education and Experience:
1. High School diploma or GED.
2 .Completion of the Nursing Assistant Certification Program is a plus.
3. Current BLS.
Physical Abilities:
- Ability to stand/ sit for prolonged periods while working.
- Ability to travel to various locations
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for event setup and other administrative tasks.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and using a computer mouse.
