The Administrative assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the effective functioning of the CFSN and its Board of Directors, and in facilitating effective communication and decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
The Administrative Assistant supports the CSFN in the application of project management process and ensuring that the services and supports they provide are aligned with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) principles. The position coordinates and schedules meetings and arranges conference calls, including travel and accommodation arrangements for staff travel as well as coordinating workshops, meetings and conferences organized by the division. The Assistant provides reception services in both English and French including translation and interpretation support for staff. The incumbent also verifies budget availability, appropriate signing authority and completion of all required documentation for processing.
Qualifications
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a high school diploma along with a minimum of one (1) year of directly related experience in office administration procedures. Fluency in both written and spoken French and English is also a requirement.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
