Drew School is an independent, urban high school in San Francisco enrolling 280 students in grades 9 through 12. Drew knows and believes in teenagers. Position Overview
Drew School seeks a history teacher from November 2025 - June 2026. This is a temporary position providing coverage during a leave of absence. We seek a teacher who has experience teaching history to 9th and 10th graders. We seek an educator who will be a collegial, highly collaborative, and supportive school community member. Our program places a strong emphasis on inquiry-based, hands-on learning, and we value creativity and real world application of scientific principles.
Teaching Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach 2 sections of 9th grade history and 2 sections of 10th grade history
- Co-lead an advisory cohort of students
- Design and lead a spring Experiential Elective
- Co-lead a weeklong spring DEALL course
- Maintain high standards of professionalism
- Work in alignment with the mission of Drew School
Desirable Skills and Experience
- B.A. in history or related field or California teaching credential
- Experience teaching history courses
- Knowledge of and experience with recent best practices in history instruction and curriculum development
- Understanding of best practices for teaching students with learning differences
