Base Hourly:

$16.87

Class/Calendar:

A12, 9.25 months

New Hire Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

  

Job Summary:

 

Perform a variety of duties related to the day-to-day preparation and delivery of school food service to students and adults.  Will travel to various elementary and secondary schools within an assigned area.

 

If offered a position with Food and Nutrition, the offer is conditional on the applicant being required to pass a timed agility test.  This test includes basic mobility; bending, reaching arms overhead and out, rotation, squatting and kneeling, as well as lifting and carrying a 10lb weighted crate, pushing a cart with a 20lb weighted crate and lifting a 47lb weighted crate. Exact details of the test will be explained at the time of testing.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Excellent employee attendance is critical to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Be involved in the preparation and serving of food daily in the cafeteria, to include outside serving carts
  • Operate various types of commercial kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, choppers, steam tables, ovens, etc., as needed
  • Wash dishes, pots and pans, equipment, kitchen utensils, and work area cleanup
  • Set-up and cleanup food serving lines, food bars, etc.
  • Excellent customer service
  • Handle money for purchase of food and beverage service and operate a register or computerized point of sale to include associated paperwork
  • May transport food to another location and organize food distribution.
  • May supervise employees
  • Conform to District, Food and Nutrition and Health Department policies
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools 

Required Qualifications:

 

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.  

 

Education: 

  • Valid Drivers license
  • Possess or ability to become ServeSafe Certified within 90 days from hire 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

It is preferred that the applicant possess the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position. 

 

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Have experience in institutional, restaurant or school kitchen environment
  • Have some knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
  • Have some knowledge of food borne diseases
  • Ability to determine the size of servings and learn necessary requirements to determine a reimbursable meal
