Directs the daily operations of a large or multiple-academic, research departments, or organizational units. Directs all facets and phases of financial and administrative management in collaboration with the department head. Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, departmental financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manages fiscal and accounting activities, including budget preparation, fiscal reports, requisitions, and account management.
- Develops, plans, and directs special projects which may include space renovations, space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, strategic plans, leasing of off-campus space and services.
- Directs the preparation of grants and contracts, and ensures their compliance to institution funding source and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Analyzes existing programs and implements new programs while establishing strategic goals and procedures.
- Acts as a liaison between the offices of the Dean, institutional offices, departments, and affiliates.
- Manages and supervises human resources activities for faculty and staff (i.e. recruitment, compensation adjustments, disciplinary actions, measuring performance, etc.) and for the department or unit. Performs all other duties as assigned.
