Primary Purpose:
Conducts Orientation Training of all new drivers. This position is tasked with coordinating the orientation platform of all new hire drivers with all departments involved with the hiring and on-boarding of new drivers for the company.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts Orientation in an everchanging work environment.
- Prepares driver qualification files and documentation.
- Performs road testing and driver evaluations as needed.
- Training drivers on hours of service, safety, company policy and PeopleNet.
- Inspects trucks for new drivers and notifies the truck shop and other departments as needed.
- Prepares and distributes needed reports and spreadsheets.
- Works closely with the recruiting department throughout the orientation process.
- Coordinates with Operations, safety, Human Resources, Billing, Accounting, Payroll, and Maintenance.
- Coordinates orientation presentations with other departments and speakers.
- Conducts tours of the local terminal.
- Prepares and orders classroom materials and other supplies as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience: Five (5) years of transportation/logistics experience.
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Prior knowledge of all current FMCSA requirements.
- Experience with TMW.
- Valid CDL A license is nice but not necessary.
- Public speaking and proficient teaching ability in a large classroom environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
This position will operate within an office environment and outside with Class A trucks when conducting Road Tests or other training.
Up to 30% travel within the US may be required.
Physical Requirements (Essential Functions):
Remain standing/sitting for hours at a time.
Ability to safely climb into and out of a truck.
Lift packages weighing less than 50 pounds.
Conduct oral/written communication.
Use a computer.
