*POSITION: INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER (ISO)
*POSITION AVAILABLE: Fall 2025
*JOB SUMMARY:
The ISO will play a crucial role in the college's information security strategy, overseeing the development, implementation, and enforcement of security measures to safeguard our systems and data. This position entails managing risks associated with information security by collaborating closely with various college departments. The ISO will also lead efforts to ensure compliance with enterprise security requirements, policies, and procedures, contributing to the overall security posture of Galveston College. *QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field. Certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience as an ISSO or in a similar cybersecurity role, preferably in a government or higher education environment.
- Strong understanding of information security principles, frameworks, and best practices.
- Experience with risk management, including conducting assessments and implementing POA&Ms and RBDs.
- Technical proficiency in installing security software and updates, and applying security baselines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of microcomputer database, spreadsheet and web development applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to identify and provide user training on a variety of software applications.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
