This recruitment is for a 6-month eligibility list.
The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Administrative Coordinator.
Current vacancy is located in the Division of Facilities & Construction (DFC). The position will provide division-wide supervision on fiscal, facilities, supplies, and project management operations. They will also coordinate and manage complex administration or business-related studies to address needs and improve division's effectiveness, efficiency, and management decision-making.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
- Principles and techniques of organization, administration, personnel management, and budget development and control
- Principles and techniques of project and process management; methods of comparative cost analyses
- Concepts and applications of database/information management software to administrative and financial management systems
- Statistical software, analysis and research techniques
- Principles of budgeting and related recordkeeping and reporting procedures
- Principles and techniques of policy analysis and development
- Fundamental concepts of employment laws, codes, and regulations, including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and Cal/OSHA and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements
- Analyzing & Interpreting Data – Drawing meaning and conclusions from quantitative and/or qualitative data
- Critical Thinking – Analytically and logically evaluating information, propositions, and claims
- Decision Making – Choosing optimal courses of action in a timely manner
- Legal & Regulatory Navigation – Understanding, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
- Professional & Technical Expertise – Applying technical subject matter to the job

Education: A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in business administration, public administration, industrial/organizational psychology, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience: Four years of experience compiling and analyzing data, preparing reports, and making recommendations regarding business processes and functions, such as budgets, procurement, workflow, staffing, and records systems, or three years of experience as an Administrative Analyst with the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
Equivalency Provision: Graduate coursework in the field of business administration, public administration, industrial/organizational psychology, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis for up to two years.
Additional Requirements: Some positions may require a valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites.
Selection Process
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of Performance Exam and Structured Interview.

Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks. Eligibility lasts for 12 months; however, additional recruitment may occur under a separate bulletin with additional candidates being merged onto the eligibility list. Some positions that involve public contact may require bilingual proficiency for which selective certification may apply (Education Code 45277.5). In addition, the eligibility list resulting from this examination may be used to fill vacancies in related job classifications for which no eligibility list exists (Education Code 45272).
