GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Provide exceptional food and beverage service that exceeds the guest’s expectations. Create a memorable experience for guests using refined guest service skills. Have a clear understanding of our service standards and meet these expectations daily. Exhibit complete knowledge of food, beverage, and services the Space Needle provides.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follows Steps of Service and Timing Guidelines, maintain proper mixologist etiquette, and approach all guests with positive, courteous attitude always as outlined in the service module.
- Exhibit complete knowledge of food and beverage offerings.
- Connect with guests, learn their preferences, answer questions, recommend and create custom cocktails based off those criteria on the fly.
- Expertly and quickly mix an extensive array of classic, standard and specialty cocktails from memory.
- Proficient in the processes for distilling all types of spirits, the history, and origins of, and the flavor profiles of those spirits.
- Conversant in bartending, cocktails, and cocktail culture from 1860’s through present.
- Responsible for creation of complex specialty cocktails and drink lists utilizing modern techniques, novel ingredients, and tools.
- Informed and observant of new techniques and trends. Aware of and interested in competitive set within and outside of the Seattle market.
- Knows and is responsible for Engaging, Merchandising, Excellence & Proficiency, and Teamwork standards.
- Complete all required set-up under the direction of the management team including but not limited to section and room detailing prior to opening.
- Responsible for set up and successful operation of the mobile bars including but not limited to stock all bar supplies, glassware, and tools.
- Will prepare garnishes, syrups, tinctures, and batches in preparation for the upcoming shift and as needed for future shifts.
- Label and date all items that are prepared.
- Organize, clean, and maintain all storage in the mobile bar and areas in the BOH where bar and or beverage supplies/products are stored.
- Ensure all guest facing areas are guest ready prior to service.
- Ensure food/beverages are served at the proper temperature with correct presentation.
- Ensure guest satisfaction throughout entire experience.
- Maintain side work duties throughout shift. Work clean.
- Water, clear, reset and otherwise maintain personal section. Assist other servers and mixologists with the same tasks when able.
- Responsible for delivering all food and beverage to personal section. Responsible for helping to deliver food and beverage to team member’s sections when possible.
- Provide Service Recovery at all times regarding guest and co-worker interactions.
- In-depth knowledge of the products and recipes that we serve including food, cocktails, spirits, and wine.
- Complete all assigned closing duties; as defined and/or when assigned by a manager.
- Will check out with manager before clocking out to ensure competition of daily job duties
- Perform any other duties deemed necessary by management.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reliable in attendance and punctuality, uses proper time clock and sign in/out procedures.
- Maintain the highest uniform and grooming standards by adhering to both company and departmental uniform standards.
- Knowledge of Space Needle policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Fire/Safety/Life procedures.
- Promote a positive and professional attitude to all internal and external guests.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have extensive knowledge of food and beverage including wine and food pairing and suggestive selling techniques.
- Excellent grooming and communication skills necessary. Requires the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Must have a valid Washington State Class 12 or Class 13 Alcohol Service Permit, and a valid Washington State Food Handler’s Permit
- The ability to work well in a team-based environment and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Walking, standing, reaching, and lifting (30 to 50 lbs.) entire shift. Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs. over one shoulder using a large serving tray. Typical shift is approximately 8 hours.
Full Time, Union Represented, Hourly Position
Hourly Rate: $21.76- $21.76 / hour (+ tips)
