SUPERVISORY CONTROL: Child Care Coordinator, Group Supervisor, and/or Assistant Group Supervisor
HOURS: As needed
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Assist the Group Supervisor and/or Assistant Group Supervisor in carrying out the daily activities of the program. In accordance with the philosophy of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff in the agency and demonstrate a positive attitude towards all clients and other persons with whom you come in contact during the course of your job. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Be able to kneel, stoop, bend, reach, and sit on the floor on a daily. Travel is not typically expected but may arise as job duties demand.
SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Understand and work to achieve the goals, mission, philosophy, and objectives of the program.
- Assist the Group Supervisor and/or Assistant Group Supervisor by contributing developmentally appropriate activities based on the current curriculum to enhance the individual development of each child.
- Be a positive model for subordinates and others working with children.
- Assistant in maintaining records or reports that are necessary for the children or the program. This includes, but is not limited to lesson plans, attendance sheets, developmental assessments, development screening, take home notes for parents, accident reports, newsletters, incident reports, anecdotals, etc. Give reports to appropriate person for filing.
- Maintain daily open communication with parents (phone calls, email, take home papers, EZSmiles, etc.)
- Participate in parent functions when requested. Encourage parent involvement in parent activities.
- Maintain up-to-date clearances, NSOR, and health physical.
- Supervise children closely. Count the number of children frequently and know how many children are in your group and which children you are responsible for at all times.
- Interact with children in all activities to further learning experiences and meet individual goals.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, health learning environment. Keep materials in good repair and stored in a safe orderly fashion. Assume responsibility for the classroom’s appearance and share housekeeping chores with other staff members.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Be familiar with licensing regulations as specified by DPW. Be familiar with STARS and NAEYC regulations. Be responsible for the program’s compliance.
- Attend trainings as required by the program.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Maintain frequent communication with co-workers and Child Care Coordinator.
- Keep confidential any matters pertaining to a child and/or family involved with the program.
- Help prepare materials for daily activities, implement planned activities for the children, and follow the daily schedule.
- Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the Child Care Coordinator, Group Supervisor, or Assistant Group Supervisor for the efficient and quality operation of the childcare program.
Requirements
High school diploma, GED, OR an eighth-grade education and two years' experience related to the care and development of children
