About the Department

The Maintenance Equipment Operator/Zamboni Driver is responsible for quality customer service, driving the ice resurfacer, working with seasonal staff, monitoring the facility and its operating equipment, and performing multiple custodial and cleaning duties to ensure that M Health Fairview Sports Center continues to meet its mission statement. This is a roving, working, flexible position with little time in the office area.

We are looking to hire additional Maintenance/Equipment Operators to add to our diverse team. Ideal candidates will possess weekday evening and weekend availability, with an emphasis on our peak season timeframe of October-March. We are willing to train the right individuals; no previous resurfacer or ice maintenance experience required.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates ice resurfacer and related equipment at scheduled times to maintain a quality skating surface.
Performs cleaning and custodial functions during each shift and communicates additional cleaning and support notes for the next shift/next day operations.
Performs periodic facility walkthroughs to include lobbies, rest rooms, locker rooms and mechanical rooms.
Records readings for refrigeration system, HVAC system and other related mechanical systems. 
Prepares the facility for the next day of operation as dictated by scheduled shift;
 including building alarm system, lighting, staff check in/out, logbook readings, security and inspections according to specified check list.
Contacts the Sports Center Assistant Manager, Facility Specialist, Building Maintenance Technician or Building Maintenance on call staff when any equipment malfunctions occur for timely repairs, and to minimize potential downtime.
Understands, reflects, and communicates the M Health Fairview Sports Center mission statement to customers and staff, to ensure a high level of service is maintained, including cleaning, customer service, skate sharpening, rentals and safety measures, snow/ice removal, and record keeping. 
Provides assistance in the direction of seasonal staff.
Provides assistance with first aid and emergency procedures in the event of an emergency.
Communicates information to the Sports Center Assistant Manager relative to the safe and secure operation of the M Health Fairview Sports Center.
Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Power and hand tools, equipment for carpentry, painting, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical; janitorial equipment, including single disk floor scrubber, wet-dry vacuums, automatic floor scrubber, mops, wringer, brooms, high lift equipment, ladders, scaffolding, personal computer, electric ice resurfacer, turf equipment, snow blowers, IAQ testing equipment, and other tools and equipment used to facilitate this job description.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
18 years of age or older.
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain prior to employment.
Ability to perform physical demands as listed in position description below.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to operate an ice resurfacer.
Previous experience in a customer service-related position.
Forklift, tractor, or heavy equipment operator experience
Cash handling and POS (Point of Sale) experience.

While performing the duties of Evening Maintenance Supervisor the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, and reach with hands or arms.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift objects up to 100 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.  The employee will be exposed to various cleaning agents, oils, lubricants, Freon, de-icers, and other products used in the performance of this job description.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Noise levels in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, moderately noisy in the remainder of the facility with the exception to the very noisy when the arena is occupied.

The employee will frequently work under changing priorities, in peak workloads, over-time situations, adverse conditions, and come in contact with diverse clientele.
The employee is frequently exposed to changes in temperatures, as the arena is significantly cooler than the remainder of the facility.
