Description
The Physical Security Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the credit union's physical security programs to ensure the safety of employees, members, and assets. This role oversees surveillance systems, access control systems to include lock and key management, physical security procedures, and coordinates with external law enforcement and security agencies. The Physical Security Specialist will also lead training efforts, work closely with vendors and support the Facilities team in maintaining a secure operating environment across all credit union locations.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $24.04 - $30.05 an hour. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a rate between the range minimum and the range maximum, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Surveillance & Access Control Management
• Administer, monitor, and maintain video surveillance and electronic access control systems.
• Ensure equipment functions properly and coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed.
• Manage user permissions and access rights in compliance with organizational policies.E0%Physical Security Programs
• Develop, implement, and maintain physical security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Facilities team on physical security infrastructure needs for new or renovated branches.
Training & Awareness
• Develop and deliver physical security training for staff, including robbery awareness, workplace violence prevention, and emergency response procedures.
• Provide guidance and resources to managers and employees on security best practices.E0%Incident Response & Law
Enforcement Liaison
• Serve as primary point of contact with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies regarding physical security matters.
• Assist with investigations related to theft, vandalism, fraud, or other incidents involving physical security.
• Document and report all incidents in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.E0%Collaboration &
Compliance
• Partner with Risk Management, IT Security, Fraud, and Facilities teams to ensure alignment of security programs.
• Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to physical security.
• Support internal audits and regulatory examinations related to security controls.

Requirements
Experience:
3 to 5 years of experience in physical security, law enforcement, or facilities security operations, preferably in a financial services environment.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Facilities Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Relevant certifications (CPP, PSP, or equivalent) a plus.
Interpersonal Skills:
Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills:
Strong knowledge of security systems (CCTV, access control, alarm systems).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees, members, and law enforcement.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to emergency situations.
Must maintain a driver's license with good driving background to operate a company motor vehicle.
Intermediate computer skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to also include presentation skills for training others on security related topics.
Physical Requirements:
May require sitting and or standing for extended periods of time.
Work Environment:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with occasional travel between office locations. May need to occasionally work on nights or weekends.
