A Brief Overview

Reporting to the President and collaborating with the President, Executive Managing Director, and the CFO the Managing Director, Investor Relations to maintain and acquire investor relationships on behalf of the Company in order to profitably place equity in affordable housing partnerships via multi and proprietary investor funds. Applies good working knowledge of affordable housing industry terms and cultivates relationships in a network of affordable housing industry colleagues. Focuses on relationships and captures client's attention and communicates complex topics simply. The Senior Director Investor Relations continuously achieves a multi-year track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and consistently demonstrates the ability to work independently solving issues in a way that is in keeping with management's overall decision making criteria. Provides consultation on issues brought up within the industry or, by HCP management and staff.

What you will do

  • Manage investor conference calls and presentations
  • Manages project pipelines for all active and prospective investor clients
  • Responds and assesses internal "Early Placement" requests from Originations groups regarding project opportunities
  • Manages fund dynamics for active funds making sure that all legal and financial requirements are met
  • Possesses good working knowledge of multi-investor fund dynamics.  Coordinates project placement needs amongst assigned investors and other Investor Relations staff for optimal placement of equity and debt
  • Works with Investor Relations staff and legal counsel to create or amend fund legal documents
  • Promptly prepares responses to queries received from investors
  • Maintains working relationship with industry leaders in order to maintain information flow from the investment community
  • Encourages and seeks out new investor relationships with Investor Relations team
  • Attends investor conferences, seminars, meetings; represents HCP in professional manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree with a focus in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in investor relations in an affordable housing focused Company
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (presentations, report writing, etc.)
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques, principles and disclosures within the Company’s Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
  • Ability to persuade, influence and build strong relationships
  • Good financial modelling skills and business acumen, with the ability to drive projects from start to finish
  • A proven track record of partnering with internal and external stakeholders to produce and deliver well-synthesized analyses, narratives, and recommendations to a wide variety of audiences, including senior management
  • Comfort navigating complex and fluid organizational structures within a fast-moving and global company. Builds and maintains cross-functional relationships spanning multiple teams and geographies
  • The ability to stay proactive and dynamic in a rapidly changing environment. A mind-set that is both analysis and process-oriented
  • The ability to plan, organize and manage the delivery of key deliverables
  • Requires an innovative thinker, with strong judgment and decision-making ability
  • Must be able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation
  • Must be able to overcome resistance to leadership and take unpopular stands when necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on industry topics internally and externally
  • Ability to apply thought processes used by management in fund, investor and project decisions to future decisions in similar situations and ability to recognize those similarities
  • Ability to establish themselves a source of knowledge and consult within the industry and Company
  • Ability to work with little to no oversight.  Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and relationships

Compensation

We are committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The hiring range for this position is generally between $200,000 - $250,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience. In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the general Hiring Range for the role. Hiring at the top of the range is reserved for exceptionally qualified candidates. We consider internal and external factors as a part of every final offer. We also offer a generous total compensation and benefits package.
