About the role
The Buyer II is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and tracking materials, parts, and equipment required for Forterra’s production and field operations. This role partners closely with engineering, warehouse, and finance teams to ensure procurement activities are timely, cost-effective, and aligned with program needs. The Buyer plays a key role in managing supplier relationships and inventory availability in a fast-paced, high-complexity environment.
What you'll do
- Assists engineers in selection and procurement efforts.
- Issues purchase orders for production and prototype materials, tools, and equipment based on program forecasts and requisitions.
- Tracks order status and proactively resolve delays or issues with vendors.
- Maintains accurate purchasing records and supports financial reporting.
- Identifies opportunities for reducing the total costs of products on programs.
- Coordinates with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure timely material receipt and reconciliation.
- Assists and drive supplier selection and onboarding processes.
- Seeks direction on purchasing strategies to be employed.
- Ensure all open purchase orders are up to date in NetSuite, with the latest Receive By Date and an additional notes about the status of the purchase order.
Qualifications

- 5-9 years of experience in procurement or purchasing roles, preferably in a manufacturing or hardware environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must have strong analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience using ERP systems such as NetSuite or similar.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and prioritize in a dynamic, deadline-driven setting.
- Exceptional customer service skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in NetSuite.
- Experience reviewing bill of materials.
US Salary Range
$75,000 - $85,000
Locations
On-Site in Clarksburg, MD - 5 Days / week
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package.
