Job Summary:
The Banquet Houseman with some steward responsibilities plays a critical support role in event execution and kitchen operations. This individual is responsible for setting up and breaking down banquet spaces according to event specifications and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dish areas. The role requires teamwork, attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong sense of hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Banquet Houseman Duties:
- Set up banquet rooms according to banquet event orders (BEOs), including tables, chairs, linens, staging, dance floors, and A/V equipment.
- Break down and reset rooms efficiently and safely after events.
- Assist with room flips during back-to-back events.
- Ensure banquet storage areas are clean, organized, and stocked.
- Transport supplies and equipment between storage and event locations.
- Support banquet servers during events as needed (e.g., replenishing water, clearing used dishes, assisting with buffet setup).
Steward Responsibilities:
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store all kitchen and banquet wares (dishes, glassware, utensils, pots/pans).
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dish room, and banquet back-of-house areas.
- Remove trash and recyclables regularly and safely.
- Assist with deep cleaning tasks (kitchen equipment, floors, walls) per schedule.
- Monitor dish machine temperature and chemical levels; report maintenance issues.
- Organize and restock dishware and banquet equipment as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in banquets, stewarding, or hospitality support roles preferred.
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to follow directions, work as part of a team, and maintain a professional demeanor.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and time management.
- Basic knowledge of banquet setups and cleaning procedures.
- Ability to operate dish machines and cleaning equipment safely.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.

Work Environment:
- Fast-paced hotel or event venue environment.
- Physically demanding with frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving equipment.
