If you are looking to make a difference, we’d love to talk to you! Our Line Cook is in charge of preparing the food items in all stations in the kitchen. They are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the station by practicing good safety, sanitation, and organizational skills. A Line Cook is working as a team member in a dynamic workplace, and follows all safety procedures. The Line Cook must have a high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment. The Line Cook is responsible, under the direction of the Culinary Services Director, for the preparation of food for residents, personnel and guests. General Qualifications:
The Cook must be at least 18 years of age or older and be able to read, write and follow verbal and written directions. He/she must have a working knowledge of the basic principles of cookery and be familiar with techniques for cooking a variety of foods as ordered. The line cook must be able to prepare food that is presented consistently, and without error.
Job Duties:
- Actively follows all personnel policies and procedures outlined in the Employee handbook and subsequent publications and notices (including policies on breaks, meal periods and sick leave.)
- Familiar with department policies and procedures.
- Responsible for all phases of food preparation.
- Responsible for safe and sanitary use of all kitchen equipment. Responsible for handling food in accordance with sanitary standards.
- Familiar with the Department of Health regulations governing restaurants as they apply to our Community, as well as standards governing licensed Nursing Homes and Department of Social Services standards governing Homes For Adults.
- Responsible for keeping work area and equipment clean.
- Washes equipment and utensils used in meal preparation.
- Able to prepare food fresh, as ordered in a cook to order kitchen.
- Will assist in delivering food to customers in absence of waitsatff.
- Will assist in POS service to customers in absence of POS position.
- Assists in keeping dining area clean.
- Participates in on the job training and regular in-service training sessions.
- Observes all rules and regulations of the dining department.
- Follows correct procedures in the storing and labeling of supplies.
- Responsible for keeping freezers and walk-ins in orderly and clean condition.
- May perform the duties of a supervisor in the absence of supervisory staff.
- Responsible for plate presentation and consistent food quality specified by the Culinary Services Director.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all resident-related information.
- Performs other duties as assigned in a prompt and cooperative fashion.
